about

Allow yourself to be transported to another time and place with Laura Lee Lovely’s new single, ‘Allandale’ due out on 12 November via streaming platforms.

Cloaked in a shadowy, synth-fuelled haze, the Christchurch-based artist says the song both empowers her and helps her tap into her inner fantastical self. It’s this entry point to another world that she hopes others will find in the song too. Stylistically, Allandale marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for Laura Lee Lovely. “This song is still very nostalgic, but I'm trying to live in the present, not the past,” she says.

To set the scene for she also shares a fast-paced Lynchian-esque music video. We meet Laura Lee Lovely in a laundromat where she has arrived to wash a wedding dress - this sparks the beginning of a paisley and neon-themed dream-scape where we see her on the run in a fluorescent pink dress that feels both carefree and ominous.

Laura explains that the video is inspired by her love-hate relationship with social media, “I make a continuous effort to limit my time on social media but find it addictive and enjoyable too, it’s important to me to have a balance. The scenes reflect the indulgence that goes on behind the scenes. The line “I think you’ve got the better of me” came to me when reflecting on this when I was having a break.”

lyrics

LAURA LEE LOVELY - ALLANDALE (LYRICS)

There's a silence here

There's a silence that's been lost

What do you fear?

Haunted by your loss

So long ago

A moment that stands still

Nothing real to fear anymore

Anymore

Anymore

Anymore

Anymore

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

I think we've met before

I think I've seen you on my feed

It's hard to tell

From all the pictures that I've seen

So many friends

But no-ones ever there

Nothing real to fear anymore

Anymore

Anymore

Anymore

Anymore

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me

Well I think you've got the better of me
